I apologize if I hit a nerve. Nothing wrong with a pages long discussion of salad dressings, it's just odd on a thread about eating less and moving more.
You do understand that we're discussing salad dressings with basically zero carbs, zero sugar and fewer than 5 calories right?
Why shouldn't an extremely low-calorie, 0 carb salad dressing be discussed on a diet and weight-loss thread?

You have not seen low calorie salad dressings?
I rarely eat my salad without dressing, but it's always on the side. And it is always a low-calorie dressing.
I use Walden Farms French when I'm not having Ranch of non-low fat Zesty Italian.
It's zero everything. IMO, it tastes just like regular French dressing.
I normally can't even think about having regular French because of all the sugar.

For example, the Government allows them to put zero calories on the label as long as it is <5/serving. So since there are 12 servings in a bottle, if you used the whole bottle on a large salad (lol), you could be eating as much as 59 calories under government regulations and Walden Farms could still claim that the bottle is calorie-free. Walden Farms itself has stated that each serving contains 3-4 calories.
I made the mistake of purchasing a bottle of Walden Farms Caesar dressing. That was the foulest, worst-tasting, allegedly edible, food product I've had the misfortune to put in my mouth in quite some time. I was able to finish my salad without gagging (barely), but I then went to the fridge and threw out the remainder of the bottle. I'll stick to the Thousand Island and Zesty Italian dressings from now on.

I didn't like the Caesar either.
They're not all good, so I only buy French.
I can get pretty low carb Italian and Ranch, so for those I just buy non-low fat regular dressing.
I can fit their calories into the days when I'm not going for very low calorie numbers.
Home made dressings are so simple to make and so much more delicious than anything in a bottle especially the low cal ones, which IMO are disgusting. And making your own dressings tend to be a lot cheaper. The one big expense is a good bottle of olive oil, but it will last.

People don't use Walden Farms dressing for the taste; we us it because it has zero (or fewer than 5) calories per serving. You can't replicate that by making your own "delicious" dressing.

Ok I get it. But generally I avoid foods that are basically chemicals. I will take the small hit on calories over artificial ingredients. But thats just me.
