I'm tubby. I didn't use to be, I was a wrestler and competitive runner in HS, and stayed in great shape while in the military. But these 4 years asa civilian have caught up to me and I'm nearly obese. The other day I noticed how high my BP was and decided to go for a radical change, I'd run 1000 miles in a year.
I went out and bought a fitness monitor, two new pair of asics (each year they add 1 to the model number, and there is a big gap between my shoes number and the current one, that's just another sign of how out of shape I am). I have been running a mile a day before the new year to help get into shape and discipline to run the 3 miles a day I have to average to get to 1k.
The end goal isn't just fitness, but to complete the Marine Corps Marathon next October as its my last year in Washington DC.
I'll be in here monthly to talk about my progress and solicit advice/encouragement and if any of you, fat or thin, want to join me in this goal of 1k miles in 2013 you are more than welcome.
