No wheat, no dairy except yogurt, no alcohol, no coffee. All that plus stress reduction seems to be working to lessen IBS flare-ups.

I lost 35 pounds in 6 months, just by reducing my portion size. I didn't need to, but I'm glad I did. You just say "I'm going to do that", and in a few days, it is just a habit, part of your routine.

I watch sodium and sugar. Rarely a sugary snack, never dessert. It's easy to keep sodium around 1,000 mg, it you never eat any pre-packaged food, and prepare everything from scratch, which is fun and easy. Did you know that, ounce for ounce, adult cereal (like Special K) contain more salt than potato chips and more sugar than Coke? I bake my own scratch cookies, which resemble corn muffins.

I'm down to near zero on HF corn syrup. Two cans of pop a week made with cane sugar, and for kitchen sugar, I use Mexican Piloncillos (crystallized raw cane juice), which is cheap down here.

I average about 2 ounces of meat per day, like maybe 10 chicken hearts, or a pot roast that lasts five days made with less than a pound of pork.

I'm slack on veggies, but I eat at least three servings a day (a half banana, a roma tomato, and a cooked vegetable, heavy on onions or green peas).

Nearly nothing prepared out side my own kitchen. A pizza and a burger about once a month, everything else prepared in-house except munchies, which I put in a modest serving bowl and put the bag away and when I'm done, I'm done.

It helps that I grew up in a house with an old-country, depression-era, stay-at-home mom in the 40s. Very good healthy foundation.

I have no allergies or any issues with anything, so I can eat with abandon.

I've eaten well, I think, for many years. I am very healthy (knock on wood!)
Just the standard stuff, really.

Lots of vegetables and legumes. I'm really into vegetarian Indian cuisine, and Middle Eastern food.

Not a lot of meat. I often go days without eating meat.

Processed and fast foods, not too often. Absolutely never drink pop because I don't like it.

I never buy or eat anything labeled low fat, low carb, sugar free, or any of that nonsense. I try to eat real food as much as possible. So I do eat my share of fatty marbled steaks, cheese, ice cream, half and half in my coffee, real butter, healthy oils, etc. Just not too often.

I am 55, quite thin, low BP, low cholesterol, heart is fine (I just had an extensive physical about a month ago), no known health issues except for back problems/sciatica. No allergies, blood sugar fine, liver enzymes fine, kidneys functioning as they should. I also credit a no-nonsense upbringing and good genes. Everyone in my family is ridiculously healthy and we all eat pretty much the same way.

Not a lot of meat.
Use Rapeseed oil for cooking.
Switched to soy milk, almond milk, soy yogurt but have not entirely eliminated dairy.
Lots of salads - usually add small amounts of slivered almonds, pumpkin seeds, and walnut pieces.
Dried fruit or fresh berries on my porridge almost every morning.
I try to keep sugar consumption down but it can be a challenge.
Very little processed food, make my own soups and bread.
Always fresh veg and fruit.
No juice, only fresh fruit.
Beans & legumes - all dried, never in tins.
Wholegrains and rarely eat white flour.
Herbal teas but do drink black tea with milk and skinny cappuccinos.

I'm nearly 62. Low to normal BP, take an antihistamine for allergies but otherwise very healthy. It helps that I workout 6 days a week.

Oh, and forgot to mention. I drink beer that my husband brews himself. An essential part of any nutritious diet.

No anti biotic type meats.
Almost no dairy, no pasta, no bread, tortillas, pizza, so very low carb.
I feel great.
Oh I alkalize all my water...Ph is very imp to me.
And minerals....gotta take my minerals.

Im sorry but Im curious how do you eat potatoes and loose weight ? I find that if I eat potatoes or bread or any kind of pasta the weight comes right back on even though I work out four days a week .
