My friends is a size 10, 5'5 and 145 and she looks fine. Not heavy at all. I wish I was that size (I'm a 14 right now) but then I see celebs who are considered heavy who say they are a size 8? They look bigger than an 8....

Size 10 can look chubby or lean, depends on who is wearing the size 10.

Your friend shouldn't be in a size 10 unless she carries the weight weird. I'm 5'6 and 137 lbs and I'm a size 6. I don't squeeze into the 6, many fit loosely. Maybe she doesn't look big to you because the 10 is draping over her very big and she should go down a size or two, and realize she's not big.

Does size really matter? It's really about how you look in the clothing you wear.

Because supermodels wear size -1. And for many, they are the "guides" for where women should be, sadly. People don't understand that the reason supermodels need to be stick figures is because they are just walking mannequins and need to make the clothes look a certain way, that the designer wants them to look.

Those sizes are weird. Especially British ones. I think even stick thin is size 2or 4 for them. Anybody with waist over 24 inches is size 4 I think. I believe US 8 is like British 12. But back to the question, generally size 8 is not considered big. Not sure where you got that. Size 10 could be, depends on a body type of a women. Also having some bust often makes woman go up a size when it comes to dresses. People who say these things generally don't have a clue about sizes. they hear in the news about size 2, but many models are size 4 in reality.

Weight and size have pretty limited relationship. Body fat percentage and amount of muscle are a lot more related. As well as bone structure. If you have wide hips, then your lowest possible clothing size is bigger than someone who has narrow hips. If you have large thighs or quads, then your clothing size can also shift a lot. Apple sized women can of course be bigger on the top and far slimmer on the bottom.

Weight tells you nothing about body composition or proportions.

My daughter is 5'5, 130 lbs and wears a size 8 in pants. Most size 6 pants won't fit over her hipbones. Sometimes the size 8 pants are baggy at the top of the thighs. She's upset about being an 8 because she says pants are much cuter in a 6 or smaller (can you tell she's a teenager ) but it's not like you can diet your way into having smaller bones.

Mostly to feel superior to anyone not as skinny! Shallow people have shallow reasons.

I am 5'10" and when I am very thin, I wear a comfortable size 12. When I was super thin in my 20s, a size 10. I can imagine that if someone's very small boned and short, they could be fat in a size 10. I always say that my skeleton is about a size 8, so there's no way I could be a smaller size.
