They exrayed her head and nothing was amiss there.
I even thought of Morgellons, as the brown stuff seems to have hair in it.
But the nose isn't raw or sore or itchy. It doesn't seem to bother her at all.
I guess this is one of those new emerging diseases. We will likely see more of it in the future, sorry to say.
What are the BUN levels at? The liver enzymes were the only thing on the high side? None of the other levels were borderline?

I don't have the report and they didn't say anything about borderline.

Last nite the nose looked swollen inside and she didn't want me to touch it. This time it was warm & dry. This morning it is almost normal, except for the crusty patches.
The other Vet at this place is a skin specialist and I'm going to ask if they talked to him about this. Surely someone has seen this condition.

As I was thinking about all this, there is one other peculiar thing. Earlier this year she started losing weight. I was feeding her Chicken Soup for the Soul which was only 20% protein. So I blamed the food and went back to Canidae. Still she lost. All her most active youth she thrived on 2 cups a day. Now it wasn't enough, so I gave her more and more and more till finally at 4 cups a day she regained what she had lost and grew a nice coat. Of course, now that she isn't eating much she's losing again.

Are you close to Gainesville? The Veterinary School may be able to help. Honestly, the most knowledgeable people I have ever met are at veterinary schools because they are constantly researching whereas a vets education after they graduate usually tapers off. UF VetMed Home UF|College of Veterinary Medicine

The Cornell Veterinary School is helping us with two foster cats right now and when our dog had some unexplained abnormal Blood Test Results, it was vets at the University of Georgia Veterinary School and Auburn University Veterinary School that assisted us since they had done some studies and knew what was going on. Plus, they knew some local vets that they either went to school with or did studies with so that we could get care close by.

The more you describe the symptoms, the more concerned I get for your sweet pup.

We had a Dobie with the same crusty stuff - turns out she had Discoid Lupus. Here's a link with info about it.
