Oh my god, the poor baby. I can't imagine giving him up after that. Heartless. That family doesn't deserve such a dedicated, loyal, loving dog.
Hoping he finds a better home soon. Perhaps the publicity will help.

Well I guess that makes me feel better. If my dog crawled on two broken legs to get home - he'd get real warm welcome from me AND the vet care he needed.
Giving the benefit of the doubt - maybe they were displaced due to the storm???
The article I posted did state that they found the dog when they returned home to sort through the rubble.
They probably didn't have anywhere to care for the dog or the money either.
This way, it's a win, win. The dog gets the medical care and will be returned to them when they have a place to live.
