Thanks, Jack, for the heads up on this. I had my Kleenex at hand and sobbed like a baby.
What a heartbreaking -- yet uplifting -- story. The pictures of the Yurt lying on him in his hospital bed... well, there are no words. My heart shattered.
No words. And this poor man, homeless, kept his dog right with him.
I do often think that the best part of many people is their feeling for their animals.
God bless the kind people who made this reunion possible.
The homeless man may not have had material things but he did have one of the greatest blessings in life, the love of a pet. I'm so glad he got to be with his dog before he passed away.
What a sad story. I am so glad that his wish was granted. We often have dying people in the hospital that ask to have their dog brought in and yes the hospital will allow it if the doctor oks it, it means alot to them to say goodbye to their beloved dog.
There are quite a few dogs living with homeless people in Santa Barbara and I will say they tend to be the best behaved dogs.I think it is the fact they are exposed to alot of people and other dogs so very well socialized. Some of my friends that are downtown often carry dog treats with them and hand them out to the dogs of homless people if they pass them.
