My dog won't eat his dinner, so I had a sample of "Merrick's Granny's Pot Pie". I added a bit of that kibble and then he ate his "Pro-Plan" food. Is it time to switch~? Do you all switch dog foods at all or often~? He hardly ate much this am and lately is wanting treats, so I gave up on it tonight....again since he didn't eat. I've been on the tough love kick before but it doesn't help much.

When we got Sophie, Kona refused to eat so I sprinkled some cheese on her kibble, that was 9 years ago and it hasn't stopped yet, she has me well trained.

Yours sounds like he's hungry but being picky, it might be time to try a new food.

Lady-Bugs picky! She eats 1 time then I have to try something new EXCEPT she Loves whatever I am cooking. Maybe you should cook extra so your dog can eat what your eating.

My Yorkie has been on so many foods, I lost count...probably over 10. I don't switch each time he won't eat, but have switch when he's 3/4 done with the bag or 3 month or so. He's been on good foods, foods from the dog supply stores, you name it. He also has literally sniffed and walked away and wouldn't eat for 3 days.

The Vet advised me not to do this. Plus, I'm vegetarian and he doesn't like all I do give to him. Now and then I give him lettuce like the hard crunchy part at the end, or a carrot. He does like Stacy's Pita Chips and I will give him one of those now and then. But he does wait till I drop something from my meals and tries to snatch it under the table

pro-plans not a great food anyway so id say hes trying to tell ya somethign and it might be time to switch...marricks great but pricey..
if you have a costco neerby you might want to look into kirkland brand food (its a great food at a better price lol) or if your close to a tractor supply, 4-health is another great food at a doable price!

theres nothing wrong with cooking for your dog, IF your cooking a well balanced diet and not adding salt or extra fats ect, onion for example is poisenous...
nothing wrong with a little bit of grilled chicken or some carrot here or there though!

My Wife will add some gravy to the dog dish if 'stupid' doesnt want to eat it, and he will gobble it right down... Cant feed him can food, or he has soft stool, so it has to be the dry, hard stuff.

And, I go ballistic if my Wife or kids feed the dog from the table, when we are eating, because the nut jumps up and down like a kangaroo, as high as the table and the bouncing is nerve racking sheesh

I wish you well...

Jesse
