only 15 lb poodle with lots of problems and in need of medical attention was found walking down the middle of the street. Microchip helps to find original owners. They do work folks.
Awe, poor little guy. Having made the choice to give away my dog, when he was just a puppy and I was living in my car, thinking I could not provide him with a good home, I realized that the dog does not care if we live under a rock. They just want to be with their human's that love them. (yes, I went and got him back after 5 days)
I am glad he is going to be alright, I hope he lives a long time more.

Katrina victims didn't have the luxury of living in a car or under a rock. They couldn't keep their dogs because they were housed in huge football stadiums and forbidden to have pets. At least the owners in the story gave the dog to a caretaker instead of leaving it run wild. It's easy to understand how the owners lost touch with the caretaker, everyone became transient after Katrina. The governent relocated people randomly throughout the entire country.
So many heros in the story. The boy whose family apparently were taking care of him, the gentleman who found him and took him to the vets, the vets themselves for treating the dog for free.
lovely story but I wish the people who had him for the past several years had checked him for a microchip when they found him
