At this hotel, guests get welcomed with a wagging tail or a warm lick to the face.
A dog will bound out from behind the registration desk, clad in an "Adopt Me" vest, as visitors arrive at the Aloft hotel in downtown Asheville, North Carolina, believed to be the only hotel in the U.S. where guests can adopt the dog that greets them when they check in.

What a FANTASTIC idea! I saw this on the Meredith Vieira Show last night and Greenville, SC Aloft Hotle is the next one doing this. I love creative people. Any good chance for a dog to find a good and forever home is OK with me!
I've seen a special on TV about it. The dogs don't go straight home with the guests. The potential adopter fills out an application and gets a home check before they get possession of the dog.
The dogs shown looked like the cream of the rescues: pretty, house trained, socialized, with some manners training. The expensive looking hotel would be a good place to search for homes. You would be showing the dogs to people with enough money to give a dog excellent care. Then the people get to see the dogs in a more natural setting instead of locked up and frantic in a small cage.
Dogs don't just wander free. They are in safe pens until a guest signs them out for some quality time.
Apparently, this is a successful program and many dogs have found homes.
