Went to visit my parents today & their dog was dying. He was about 13 & he seemed a lil weak on Saturday but seemed improved on Sunday. Today he took a turn for the worse. He couldn't move and wasn't eating either. (He didn't eat much over the weekend either.. )He's usually outside most of the time so he was out today since it was a nice sunny day. When my mom got home from work she discovered how weak he was & how he couldn't move. We called his vet to make a home visit if possible but he wasn't in. It was also clear his life was coming to an end. Poor dog couldnt walk. We all cried by him, hugged him & said our goodbyes & told him I love you. Animal control came to pick him up afterwards ��

The bolded make it pretty clear the dog died before her eyes. But still, why would anyone think it is okay to try to make someone feel worse when they are writing about their grief. I get so tired of the lack of compassion some have for animals of the two-legged variety.

You sent your dying dog to Animal control vs to a vet? You allowed your companion of 13 years to be taken to a spooky shelter to be put down vs in your arms? No sympathy for you or your family, I do have much for the dog though.
It is a hard decision to determine what to do with pets who have died.
I have 2 cats and 1 guinea pig buried in my back yard. I have one passed guinea pig in my freezer, waiting for the ground to thaw. Our first dog was a big dog who died in winter, so the ground was frozen - no way to bury her. Our options were cremation at a cost of $300 or have the vet "take care of her". Two visits to the emergency vet, plus several visits to our regular vet had already cost about $2000. It's a tough choice. Everyone needs to make the choice that works for them.
One of my dogs passed away at home before I could get her to the vet. She had diabetes and had not eaten for a day. I made sure her blood sugar was regulated and she seemed to be improving. I let her out to use the bathroom and she didn't come back to the door like normal. I went out looking for her and she was laying in the rain on the grass. I brought her in and called the Vet but the vet couldn't see her for an hour. Sweet little Peedee passed away not much longer after I called the Vet. I sat with her and talked to her as she died. I noticed after she passed the had blood in her mouth which tells me there was more to it than diabetes.
She was buried right next to her mother in my yard.
