I wouldn't want this dog because it's too big.

Being attacked by this dog would be the pits.

"The Hulk" is a towering, 173-pound pit bull bred and raised by Dark Dynasty K9s, based in Carroll, New Hampshire.

Sounds and looks like Sherriff Longmire's Dog in the novels.

I would not want a dog like that primarily because I do not like dogs very much. If I need a home defense dog I want one that will detect an intruder and come and wake me up. Then the intruder will be facing something far more dangerous than a dog, even one that big, an armed and alert human.

That's not a pit bull. It's one of the giant mastiff breeds. Great Danes, Presa Canarios, and many others are all mastiffs. Giant Mastiffs are ancient breeds going back further than the Roman Empire.

Pits are mastiffs, but the one in the picture is far too large; a big pit bull weighs around 60 lbs.

I would LOVE to have the space for a big dog...someday I will. And yes, I would take one that big. The sad part is, those larger breeds tend to have shorter lives.

This "breeder" in the story does seem to be irresponsibly breeding these dogs. He clearly states he is breeding for size, but has he considered the damage that breeding goal may be doing to the health of the dogs? Maybe he doesn't care about that because he is (IMO) obviously breeding for a target audience.

That isn't a pitbull.

That is a Bull Mastiff.

Yeah-or looks like a cane corso.

I have a pit-mix and he's a great dog-only about 40 pounds though.
