He is doing pretty good today, he is doing a bit of whining but I think that is because he always wants me right with him. I am in the house with him but I can't always be right next to him.

I slept next to him again last night starting around 3 am. I slept in my bed before that for first time since his surgery.

He has like a panting whine going on. I think he is tired of not being able to go wherever or play outside.

Awww....look at that sweet face!!! He's probably getting bored - being confined to one space all day and you're his only "outlet". Does he have one of those Kong chewers or some greenies or something to gnaw on while he's there? Dogs are so different than cats - dogs like to move around and mix it up more, run and play and stuff. It's only been a couple of days - he has a long way to go until he can run and move freely, poor guy.

When my little Pom was feeling poorly she insisted on laying in my arms - no matter what. I guess Obie couldn't get away with that!!!! Sounds like he is doing pretty good though - please give him a big squeeze from me!!!!

OMG, what a face!!

Rest assured, he'll get over whatever discomfort he's feeling. Though, honestly, I think that the shame if the e collar is the worst for them.

Whining could be pain or discomfort. Is he still on his pain meds?

Yes he is. It calls for 1-2 every 8-12 hours and I give one every eight. Do you think I should up it to 2? Maybe I will and see if it makes a difference.

If you can give him two I would and and see if it helps.

I gave him a second one and it quieted him down and he is resting. I never thought he was in pain, he didn't seem distressed. Thank you so much for mentioning that could be what it was.

Obie may be hot wearing the cone. I don't know where you live but maybe a small oscillating fan directed toward him would help. I had to use one for Wolfgang...still do...while he's in his x-pen and crate at night.

Glad he's having an otherwise good day and yes, the higher dose of meds may help. You don't have to do the two pill dose every 8/12 hours....maybe just during the day when he's awake and wanting to be near you. At night I'm sure he's sleeping good and probably no need then.

Even with two at times I think (especially today) he may be in more pain than usual before it is the next time to take his medicine.
