Why in the world would anyone care if the buyer was gay or not??? I don't get that. Also it appears that the court found cause that this woman was in fact discriminated against.

The owner had told the woman she does not trust homosexuals with animals because she had read that transvestites have been connected to animal pornography.
If that statement is true then she has every right to sue.

Yes, it's a bit wierd that a dog wasn't adopted because of gayness, but to sue a shelter????? That's my question. do you have to go to that length just to prove a point??? Sometimes, life isn't fair, I"m sorry. to sue a shelter??? I know many rescue organizations I don't agree with and make decisions for reasons I feel are invaid, but I wouldn't sue them.

Sometimes, people like that just are out there to prove they are right. Whether they are right or not.

Gez, there's tons of dogs out there that need a home and this woman spends all this money to sue. I"m sorry, I just don't see the logic in sueing unless it's a super huge thing.

Its the principle deegers. Her being a lesbian should have absolutely no bearing on her ability to adopt a dog. Now, if she was convicted of cooking Meth or sommet then yest hey would have grounds.

Hey Deegers I went back and read the article again, and it said a kennel owner. I got the impression it was a breeder, and it said she wanted to buy the dog.
I suppose if she wanted to buy it, then she felt it worth her time and $$$ to sue.
I agree with you totally though that its ridiculous to sue to get a point across. She should of just flipped the kennel owner off, and went to another kennel and bought a dog.
What is this world coming to when everyone has to sue because something impolite is said???
I also wonder, like the previous post,,,,"How did they know she was gay?" Good question........

I totally understand principles about the discrimination, but still. Sue a kennel owner? (thanks nanwalt for the correction, I didn't really read through the article yet)

Nanwalt stated what I didn't meaning she could have just reported the discrimination and went to another breeder. I get real tired of the public abusing the court and filing lawsuits on every broken nail, hurt feelings they get. Sometimes, it is totally legit, but you have to wonder on the other ones.

I think she has every right to sue. I'm not sure about swedish law, but from my understanding they are a lot more liberal than us. But it's like saying, you can't have this dog cause you've got blond hair, or you're black, or jewish. It's wrong. Whether it has to do with purchasing a dog, a toothbrush or a house. I'm also against the sue happy society, but I think in this instance that's what the courts are for, respectfully.

Either way have a good one!
