We have a medium sized Shepherd-Sheltie, Tribbles, and a Chihuahua-Terrier mix, Little Guy. We have a raised stainless steel water bowl for Tribbles, and for Little Guy we have a small, slightly raised bowl. But they both drink out of the large, raised bowl! Occasionally Tribbles will go over and empty LG's water bowl because she thinks it's special. LG won't touch it.

We've had raised bowls for all our dogs. It just seems more comfortable. That being said, our Sweetie, White Shepherd, used to prefer eating while lying down.

Agree 100%. Our dogs, regular and Mini Aussies, eat either from raised bowls or laying down.
