It’s 2018 and there are still people shaving their double-coated dogs! How are the missing the memo? Are their vets not advising them against it? Are the groomers just taking the money even though they know they should be advising against it? In just the past week, I’ve already seen three dogs shaved down (and why for the love of christ do they always leave the head and tail long so the dog looks like an idiot), including a Husky yesterday! Just DON’T! It does not keep your dog cooler.
I wonder how much cooler it keeps them? I was recommended to shave my Caucasian Ovcharka, hell no to that, but was definitely noticeable difference in heat and humidity compared to single my coat dogs.
my heeler mix Bailey had a heavy double coat and spring shedding was a nightmare..... Seemed like I combed nearly an entire dog out of her fur nearly every evening...... the wild birds appreciated it for their nests, though!! In all of her years, I never once considered shaving her......
In my mind, the ONLY reason to shave a dog is if it SOOOO severely matted, there is no other way to give it relief.......
