MESA, Ariz. -- A deaf woman's dog alerted her to a fast-moving fire at her apartment complex Saturday where flames forced 36 people to flee to safety, including 21 children, and destroyed eight units.
Hearing-ear service dogs are taught to jump on their owners only when there's a fire, otherwise, they are supposed to catch the person's attention for, say, a doorbell.
