We adopted a mixed breed and have always wondered what might be in the mix. She is by far the smarted dog we have ever had.
Well, one ear stood up last week and hasn't gone down. So we know she has a healthy dose of GSD in her! She looks really cute with just one ear up. The other is starting to go up, too, so we'll enjoy the lopsideness while we can.
When we adopted our dog as a puppy, the shelter had her listed as a lab mix. Then up went one ear, followed shortly by the other one. Our "lab-x" transformed into a shep-x right before our very eyes!
She is gorgeous! To me it looks more like Belgian Malinois than GSD. Congrats on your pretty and smart girl!
Wow - except for the size, she really fits the description of the Belgian Malinois.
I often sit in wonder of how beautiful and graceful she is when she's running. She definitely needs jobs to stay happy. She has a high prey drive (just ask the cats!). And, her markings are almost identical to the breed standard description. So, new breed: miniture Belgian Malinois.
LOL. The other ear may perk up soon. The GSD mix puppy that our rescue had took a while, but eventually his ears both perked up on their own. First the one, then a few weeks later the other. He's a massive, gorgeous boy now with two very erect ears!
What a pretty girl you have there! Thanks for rescuing and giving her a forever home.
