She got laid off. Did the Alt-Cert thing. She was and is still collecting.
It's very easy to apply to jobs you do not qualify for over the internet.

My brother also got laid off but did not go for any unemployment and this is up in Grapevine. Took him 4 months to find a new job. He lived off his savings while looking.

Now I see 2 family members here..one who hustled because it was HIS money dwindling every month and another who is content to sit back and wait for utopia. BTW..this SIL (ex) is in NY in LI..pretty expensive area and there's plenty of school districts within easy driving in LI.
