So no meaningful cuts as most of that $900 billion will come in the second half of those ten years and no new taxes. Looks to me like the Democrats won. That or the Republicans still don't care about being fiscally conservative which really wouldn't be a shock. "Sure, you can spend all you want. Just don't you try and pay for any of it and we'll get along just fine."

the question is, did the tea party do what they needed in order to win the senate and presidency in 2012. i will expect them to immediately get moving on the balanced budget amendment at that point.

of course all the idiotic politicians will be saying to each other "good work" and patting themselves on the back for a "job well done"! is it now time to give them a raise for saving us all from disaster? if not for our dear politicians we would be all doomed right?

I would like the president to speak out about this debachle. I would love him to put something into action stating that if they come within 30 days of not balancing a budget everyone in congress will lose 3% of their salary per day.

they keep talking about the need to compromise. the idea that we should compromise on a balanced budget is ridiculous. all americans want a balanced budget. the compromise will then have to come when it comes to where to cut and where to raise revenue (if thats what you want to do).

And the answer is . . . .

If looking like a pack of dips . . and drama queens to the nation and the world is what is needed in order to win the Senate and the Presidency in 2012 -- they are well on course.

However, when you consider that most of the US are not morons, the Tea Party may have shot its wad and is pretty much done and over. I doubt if we would trust them to walk the dog or mow the lawn at this point, let alone run the country.

Yes, yes, Amending the US Constitution.

Always a very Conservative thing to do.

pssssttt. The Constitution is not where the problem is.

Considering that now Corporations are allowed unlimited bribes/contributions to the US Congress, they could work without any salary.

The bribes pay far more than We The People ever offered.

Congress is just serving their masters. What else should one expect?

I support:

The return of tariffs on unbalanced trade.
Taking US off Oil.
Scaling back the US Military/Empire.
The return of the Glass-Steagall Act.
End of Corporate/Wall Street Welfare

From that we could return to a normal, balanced, functional economy and balanced budgets stem from that.

These are the antithesis of some of the things that have lead US in such debt, as individuals, and a Nation.

If you will not end the source(s) of the problem, the problems will persist.

Have you ever heard of Root Cause Analysis?

the root cause would be allowing the federal government to accumulate debt. if they couldnt spend so much more than they take in, they would be limited in what they can do.
