This thread is about property tax - not renting. An aside about renting was fine but pursuing it further will be considered a thread hijack.

The great thing about property taxes is that it matches a tangible asset value a location and a tax basis. Now how we got assessing valuation and the usage of tax funds are much different discussions. But for local public services funding a property tax is highly effective and fair.

No it really isn't.

There's some room at the margins to debate a few particulars.. but the basic truth is very clear.
And it has been for a very long time.

Thread should have stopped here. However I would add to have a few such services as possible except where the monopoly cannot be avoided.

Pocket games. Tenants pay the property tax.

The employers volunteered for the onus and still prefer having that leverage over employees.

Still, you're partly right... getting Healthcare insurance detached from employment is a Good Idea.
I've been advocating it for over twenty years.

This is incorrect. Tenants pay what the market bears at the time they commit.

Should that have been necessary?

And of what the tenants do pay to the landlord... it goes where?

Among other operating expenses the property taxes are at the top of the list.
Feel better now?.
