The underlying broader context of the attacks in Paris is the disenfranchised immigrant communities and their experience in the fringes of French society. Europe often prides itself with its enlightenment, tolerance, and equality. It is the social democratic bastion. Yet, immigrants, particularly those from the Middle East, do not get the benefits of such social democracy. They are disenfranchised, angry, socially excluded. Many attacks after 9/11 happened in Europe. America has not been attacked again. Also, european attacks were more home grown, which suggests a sort of social illness behind the surface of happiness. Home grown terrorism isn't as serious of a problem to America.

It turns out that european social democracy is comfortable to white Europeans who have a consensus over these policies and ideas. It is America, where the largest variety of immigrant risk their lives to reach. It is America, where immigrants are given much more opportunities, much lower taxes, and much more freedom to build their business, receive education, and raise a family.

It is our dynamic and free market economy. It is our vibrant culture of diverse and individualistic expressions. It is our vast land, our light handed governance as opposed to european nanny states. our market system attracts and retains the best talent and these people prosper in America. The American system is more likeable and accommodating to non western cultures than the European system.

As much as people like to cry racism in America, the US is actually one of the most accepting and least racist countries in the world.

This allows for a more productive economy, when you can get past skin color and positively interact with those around you. People coming together from different cultures to make great things is why Silicon Valley works. I work in an office with a team of people born in 6 different countries.

I wouldn't be surprised if the French terrorist attacks weren't planned in advance by its own government, just like 9/11 was (and there are plenty of YouTube videos to prove this).

I agree with this.

Eh, we're really not a fee market economy, although I do believe we're freer than Europe...although that's not saying much.
