You could probably make a cheaper and healthier version by cooking whole wheat noodles and some chicken bouillion. Same thing even better.

Yeah...with butter, parmesan, chopped scallions and something less than the entire seasoning packet. They're really good. I don't know why some people look down on these things.

Default It's sure a popular thing in my area

I see people buying these by the caseload! Not something I typically eat, but on a rare occasion I'll add some veges and meat to it. And I use very little of the enclosed flavor packet (too much sodium), instead adding red chili powder and/or jalapenos instead. Or, a bit of liquid aminos (soy sauce substitute) for that oriental flair

it's too much work, they have to wait for the water to boil instead of waiting for the microwave

Add some Tabasco for some kick.

I really truly miss the government cheese I had as a kid....

There was news report about the fact that they DON'T tend to break down in the digestive tract. If they don't break down any nutritional value is compromised, IF there IS any 'nutritional value' to them at all.
After watching the news report {inconclusive on nutritional value} we decided they would NO LONGER be part of our snacking.
And there is also the fact that essentially they have no expiration as they are preserved to essentially last a century.
You are better off spending a bit more for fresh.

That stuff is very, very bad for you.

Cheap and popular brand listed has zero nutritional value and is loaded with sodium, MSG, and other chemicals. I wouldn't eat it under any circumstance.

If you take mozzarella and cut it up and put little pieces in there, it has protein and won't make you feel strange after eating. Or eat a boiled egg with it.

The world is indeed getting strange - yes, the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Rapidly.
