who is it that believes your money is the goverment's money? And do you believe that you shouldn't have to pay for a public good with your money?

taxes aren't a form of slavery. you're free to move to countries that don't operate this way. no one is forcing you to live in a civilized society.

Liberals do. And yes we need to pay taxes but to expect some people to pick up the tab for the dead beats who don't pay anything is wrong. Worse for those same dead beats to demand that someone else pay more.

Petch creates arguments that don't exist or present an opposing side to her own just to use it to argue against

Everyone pays taxes some just don't pay federal income tax. I don't think it makes sense for someone making 10,000 a year to pay income tax

Grist for the Ignore List mill. It's all like yard debris being shoveled into the old chipper-shredder.

except the idea that there are that many people who "don't pay anything" is also inccorect. A progressive income tax is what's deployed by every prosperous nation on the planet. So, what's your solution?

The rich, because they are the ones who pay for it.

The government doesn't pay for those those things, the taxpayer does. And as it just so happens, the rich contribute far more money per capita to the state than a normal person does. This means that the only reason the common man can even go to a decent school or use decent roads is because the rich are paying huge sums of money to the state and would do so even in a flat tax system.

You are right, the rich do benefit from those things that you listed. They are also the only reason for why they exist.

Nobody should be taxed below living wage
in other words, nobody should have to eat 2 meals a day to pay taxes.

If you do a flat tax of 30% for everything above living wage, let's say $10,000/person
You end up with a progressive tax.

People making $15000/year would pay very little tax
People making $1million would end up paying a higher tax bracket.
