How exactly did you post that to the internet? Smoke signals?
Then why have they been crying lately about subscribers declining, ad revenue declining, etc..?

Comcast is a media company of which cable is one of its departments.

That first number is truly staggering. The federal poverty level for a family of five is $28,410, and yet almost 40 percent of all American workers do not even bring in $20,000 a year.
$20k/year is above poverty for households of one or two people.

And not enough to affordably rent a 1BR apartment in many areas. e.g. in this area a $20,000 household would pay 61% of gross income to rent a 1BR apartment - IF any landlord would rent to them. (One person would pay 53% of gross income to rent a studio apartment.)

There are high COL areas and low COL areas. Around here on the East Coast $35k can buy you a 3bdrm house.

[$38k can buy you a du-plex. So you get a home to live in and an income stream]

And it's ten miles to the nearest two-bit country store, or 50 miles to a supermarket.

And for that $38k you get some land with a home to live in and an income stream, plus a stream runs through it.

On the other hand, I did not enjoy the frosty mornings of August, or the dawn-to-dusk AM radio stations.

Not a clue where you think you are going with that outburst.

That du-plex is in town within walking distance to a state university, shopping and restaurants.

Streams? Frost? AM radio? What are you going on about?

I once spent a week near Waterville. Presumably state university towns are more substantial.

I know where Waterville is, I went there once for an over-nighter, they have a new hospital with a DeVinci operating robot that did a surgery on me. But otherwise I am not familiar with their accommodations.

Do Waterville homes have streams running through them?

Was your radio an AM-only device?

A week ago my wife took me to look at a DuPlex in Orono that is listed for $38k. It is basically near the center of town. Then we looked at a Four-plex apartment building on the market for $84k.

The SSA data include everyone whose FICA withholding is reported to the government, so it includes: teenagers, college students, recent immigrants, farm workers, part time workers, housewives working a few hours a week, old people on pensions and Social Security working a few hours a week, and... workers. I am always surprised by how many marginal people there are, but most of the people I just named live with someone else who is either working, receiving welfare benefits, or retired. They are not typically supporting themselves on these tiny wages.

Knowing how to interpret government statistics is something economists (I am one) do.

If you put as much effort into making money as you do into your epic C-D posts, you'd make $100K.

I was going to type a reply to his post but fortunately read through to the end.

Thanks for the above.
