I just got a credit card offer in the mail for my 7 year old.

They must think he's all grown up now that he just lost his third tooth yesterday.

What do I do? As we speak I am on hold with Bank of America, talked to three people and am on hold with the fraud department.

I guess I am going to have to call the three credit reporting agencies, because I have not checked either of my two kids credit reports (son of a biscuit! I just got disconnected, that figures). Anyway, I will call fraud dept. back as I now have their direct number.

Aside from calling the three agencies, is there anything else I should be doing?

Thanks!

I wouln't worry too much although identity theft do happen to kids... I have seen credit card offers to dogs and cats... I wouldn't be too worried. What you did was fine and should resolve everything... They will give credit cards to just about anybody or even anything... I wouldn't be surprised that a car called Betsy is pre-approved for one...

Take the offer, max out the card at Toys R Us, then call the credit card company and tell them your son has no intention to repay the debt, and they can sue him if they would like to do so.

Then donate all the toys to your local children's charity.

I think checking their credit reports would be the first step. Isn't there are way to freeze any activity in case you suspect there may be a problem?

Not surprised, my son got a "pre approved" delta air card form in the mail when he was 11. Needless to say I called and raised heck about it!
My father inlaw got a visa card issued to his dog in the name "Charlie the pooch". I wonder how the dog would be made liable to pay? Can a dog go chapter 7?

This may explain why they chose to raise the rates on the rest of us. I got a notice that we have a new higher rate, then they sent out a letter explaining that we can ask for a lower rate. I don't need any rate from these people. I am cancelling the credit cards. They raised the rate without a call from me, so they could lower the rate without a call. They will soon learn that we will have no rate at all with them.

Thanks!
Quiz your representative and senators on their understanding of the following equation:

production - consumption = saving + investment

After they fail, next opportunity vote them out of office, and hopefully some brave souls will emerge whose policies are to help people engage in productive work, instead of pushing around IOUs to each other, hoping the Chinese and Arabs keep producing for the deadbeats on that continent between the A&P and keeping quiet about it.

My son received a credit card offer for a Toys R Us Visa when he was 2. Its no coincidence that this arrived shortly after I signed him up for their birthday club.

I went online to the federal free ct report website and tried to order a copy of his report. I got a message that they were unable to process my request since no ct had been established. Which is exactly what I wanted to hear
