Please read what Lee Iacocca had to say about our current situation and the commentary I had on the subject. I am personally really surprised that more people are not starting to take action by holding their representative accountable on this economic crisis. Almost all the actions that are being taken now other than some guarantees on the citizen's income and wealth are just making things much worse.
With the 700 billion and now the p[proposed 850 billion the future will look like the current crisis in homes with the interest that will be due. At some point the federal government will have to drastically reduce spending to pay the bill that will take decades of lower government programs. Otherwise Taxes will be so high that few will be able to afford buying a home except for the wealthy. The governamnt is like a person living mostly on credit card debt now and it will come due with interest.

I've emailed my representatives in Washington and told them how I felt about all these Corporate/Bank bailouts and that our tax money should not be used for that.
Lot of good that did. BTW..I did keep track of who voted FOR the bailouts and my vote went to the "other" person on the ballot. No one in Washington that voted for these bailouts got my vote.
Yet..how many of those "crooks" got re-elected ? More than I thought would seeing that there were overwhelming "against the bailout" emails.
American "voted" to keep the status quo. It's now every man for himself.
Reads more like a rant than anything approximating solutions.
I agree... but his rant still reflects reality quite accurately. And the shame of it is that majority of Americans have not a clue !
I also agree with HappyTexan in saying "every man for himself". The ruthless and moral less will fair the best in the future! It's a shame that this is what our country has become but it is what it is... and at the peoples request I might add !!!

I didn't mean it that way ! I meant that we should not count on the government to help "main street". In that sense we are on our own to manage our debts and keep ourselves afloat.
Interesting, the site you linked to seem to agree that Lee did write this?
Did you read the part at the bottom about the altered email versions? The part that is altered is also in the original linked article. I stand by my original post.
