Hosting 9 people. And since this is the business section - hosting 9 people is not a smart business decision I spent $250 on just the non-perishables. But that's ok, cooking and family is good for the mind.

I'll be having Thanksgiving dinner in the Alzheimer's unit where my mother lives. The place is an assisted living arrangement with a unit for Alzheimer's patients. It's very nice, the food is great and the decorations in the dining room are always cute. I've eaten there with her a few times. Before and after eating we will be in her studio apartment in the unit watching court TV shows. She just loves them. I'll doze off. I always do. She won't mind since I've done that since I was a baby. "You're just like your father" she will say lovingly. I'm glad she thinks so.

To keep on topic I will add that the meal costs me $7.00. Can't beat that with a stick.

Wife's cooking as usual, so far this year we have 9 confirmed, maybe a couple more stragglers or no shows. There will be plenty of food for who ever comes, no one ever leaves hungry.

I'm hoping the local homeless shelter will have some food left after I get done collecting cans. If not I'll probably just rummmage through the garbage at Cracker Barrell.

We chose not to participate in the national ritual of mass gluttony and eat the same things, and in the same amounts, that we always eat.

Thanksgiving for us means watching stories on the news about big crowds at the airports and Bums and Soldiers being served turkey and gravy.

won't that can collecting move you into a different tax bracket?

i must be the only southerner who doesn't care for the food at cracker barrel. i only ate there one time but that was enough for me....

however, a lot of people must like eating there judging by the volume of cars in their parking lot.

You should be able to feed 10 a Thanksgiving Dinner for $50~$60. Did you buy $50 bottles of wine?

Anyhow, I will spend thanksgiving at home with my wife and avoid family.

We're doing both. We're eating in (on?) the boat, out on the Chesapeake Bay. It's a tradition we do every year unless it's blowing a gale...

We have 10 guests confirmed this year, several of whom we'll pick up along the away. We just set the throttles to a slow cruise (about 8 knots), switch on the auto-pilot, and enjoy the great food and company. Takes all day and we'll cover about 120 miles...

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
