This is probably better suited for the frugal living forum.
But yes..sometimes less is more.
Then again, you could just find a comfortable chair and sit down and spend an hour or so reading the Tao Te Ching, instead of letting somebody else do it and then tell you how to apply it to your everyday life. (I always liked the Tao better than the Zen way.)
I have been following that financial philosophy (save more, spend less) ever since I was 18 years old and went away to college and I am now 66. I salute whatever books will help people achieve this, but to me it was just common sense and I didn't need a book. The result, in my case, is complete financial peace of mind and an ability to live easily and in reasonable comfort where I want to.

So have I Escort Rider and I didn't even know I was following any "Zen" or "Frugal" thinkings. I just knew that if I wanted money later in life then I needed to save now.
The links provided by posters are excellent starting points or grounding points or expanding points for people. You can pick and choose where to start and start small so it becomes a life habit.
The power of less is a life habit, not something you do in 6 months and then go back to your previous habits. It is a game changer and IMHO for the best.
