Or to School, the brainwashing is already there, if rational thought were though, some may question the teachings, that can't be bad.

Maybe so. It might create that possibility.

It is sort of taught in elementary school as part of reading comprehension sometimes, but that really depends on how the teacher decides to approach the subject.
That would probably help. It was not taught when I was at school.

Someone said nobody should be told what to think. I guess that attitude fits our Western mentality where we believe in the ego, the human being as an independent being, etc.
However, I think all children are told what to think. At the beginning the human brain is an empty drawer where all kinds of people put in their thoughts. First it is mostly parents, then increasingly teachers and peers, later on anyone that is different from one's parents, etc. Only from a certain age on can we understand what has been filled into our brains, challenge and if necessary discard it, mix it, make something new out of it.

I knew that without reading your specific post.

I think the Western mentality expects us to be told what to think. An example of this is political correctness, being told what to think without considering the specifics of a situation. Political correctness changes, hence can never be correct, to be correct would be a constant.

I think part of the problem is, who is teaching a child that which is correct.

We are told what to think 24/7 from the time we are brought into this world. Every culture brainwashes their masses to believe and think like they do... if they want to be considered normal.

I guess all parents think their views are correct, even if others disagree.

Some seem to have no views, it is left to the media and Schools to fill that gap.
