I have some money put away in savings and I have come to a cross roads about what to do with it.

I am 24 and live at home with my parents. I have a job I love but I am not being paid a ton right now (good money for someone 2 years out of college-but not great).

Although I would love to move out and be on my own, my life living with my folks isn't bad. With their work schedules and mine we rarely cross paths more than twice a week and really for no longer than 15-20 mins. Not paying rent but buy all my own groceries, pay my cell phone and car payment. All-in-all not a bad situation.

So the cross roads came about when the idea of applying for grad school came to mind (always wanted to go but wanted to get established in the real world first).

So now I need to make a decision...spend the money on grad school or on moving out? Have no intentions of living with roommates or renting and really crunched the numbers and cant realistically afford both.

Opinions/experiences would be helpful!

Not enough information.

How much will grad school cost?
Can you get an employer to pay for it?
What benefits will grad school provide?
What work do you do now?
What career advancement can you expect both with and without grad school?
Will you live at home while you are in grad school? Can you handle that?
What would happen if you invested the money instead, Roth IRA, etc.?

Around $26,000 with books.

Can you get an employer to pay for it?
Employer will pay for some (not all).

What benefits will grad school provide?
I know several people who work for my company who are now senior level managers (in my division) who were promoted after completion of grad school. (obviously I realize this is not a given)

What work do you do now?
I am a technical writer.

I will live at home-hence the dilemma. I could handle it but I also don't want to be 27 living at home when I graduate either.

Better to be 27 and moving out w/ a masters, than 24 and living at home indefinitely. I'd go for the school, and then you can move out and do something nice for your folks. And, have you asked if they are ok having you live w/ them for another 3 yrs??

+1 on staying home and getting your masters. Get those student loans paid off and reduce as much debt as possible.

Perhaps look into finding work at a college/university where you can take grad level courses at a reduced price.
