Has anyone here had to take the GED test? (algebra, testing, subjects)

I know it's different depending on what state you're in but I'd still like to know what you did to prepare, what subjects you had and how they were presented (multiple choice, essay, calculator etc)?
I took a GED back in 1996, nearly 20 years ago. Failed the first time, but passed the second time I took it about a month later. Pretty basic stuff like basic algebra, basic english, probably some simple social studies stuff, etc. It's a very simple test to pass.
You may want to look into taking free GED classes in your area as well as using online resources.
