My daughter is starting kindergarten at a Catholic school in about 10 days. The school does a lot of fundraisers, ranging from wrapping paper to cookie dough and auctions and such. I would like to work with the school and find fundraising ideas that sell products made by non-profit companies so we are not only helping our school but we are helping the church's mission in the world.

For example, instead of selling wrapping paper from a for-profit company we could sell Christmas cards from the Printery House at Conception Abbey. The money goes to something other than a for-profit company.

Does anyone know about any non-profit organizations that use the profits generated from school fundraisers that go back into the community rather than stockholder pockets?

For most non-profit organizations that would be a conflict of interests. If you are selling cards that the Abbey usues as a fundraiser and taking a cut you are taking money from that non-profit. Even if you sell it for more than they are selling it for. Most non-profits have rules against that sort of thing. The Girl Scouts for example can't raise money on behalf of another organization unless the full proceed go to that organization. It can't be a fundraiser for both.

Now you could just do a straight fundraiser for your school and then turn around and make a donation with part of the proceeds or buy food for a local food pantry. That might work.

Instead of selling things no one wants, try a plant sale where people bring in plants and buy plants (usually perennials). My sister's church has one every year and it's huge. They make a LOT of money.

I don't think the OP is looking for it to be a fundraiser for both, simply seeking to obtain items from a nonprofit (or even a group who essentially functions as a nonprofit, even if not officially organized that way) instead of just a regular wholesalers. Nonprofits can and do sell wholesale; it's not against regulations or a conflict of interest. It doesn't mean it is a fundraiser for both.

This message has impressed me so much. Am a director of St. Anthony childcare the first and only kindergarten in the community. First of all i would love to get a sister kindergarten, our childcare is also catholic based. St. Anthony childcare is a big project that is also helping a number of school going girl children raise scholastic materials and sanitary pads through the sale of paper bead jewelry they make. The craft making project has also extend to the teenage mothers who are increasing day and night due to a number of social and economic problems our undeveloped community is facing.

Through this project we have a dream we can meet a number of needs of the school girls and teenage mothers if we can find any avenue where we can send these crafts and they use them to fundraise for this cause.
I promise to send you some of these paper bead jewelry and give it a try if i get your postal address.

I will be extremely happy on behalf of the girls to hear your response.
