That's 17.5 hours, and seems excessive. Where did you teach if you don't mind my asking. We don't do that much here.
Kentucky. The bulk of it was in the spring - 8 days of it. However there were two different tests in the fall. It was absolutely ridiculous. They changed it after I left so I don't how long they are now. I certainly hope it is less.

I am concerned that the last year I taught fulltime my middle school students had 1050 minutes of mandated testing a year and that did not include the district mandated tests and checks. Or my classroom tests. That is far, far, far too much.
What I meant was that the concept of standardized testing is fine. Of course, how it's implemented is equally important (and also, as I mentioned, what purpose it serves). 17.5 hours of ANYTHING that takes away time from a student's learning is overreaching, let alone testing. I am curious if this is for a specific grade level, or if this was uniformly applied to all grades.

It varied by both level and grade. This was middle school.
