Wondering if you guys have any to recommend, preferably on the west side.

Looking at boxing and/or grappling such as jiu jitsu.

Visited Hayashi's, on Doniphan last night and wanted to see what other options are out there.

Since you said the west side, there is no question or debate, go visit Gorilla MMA. That is where I would go if I lived on the westside. I live far east and I still contemplate joining. It is far, far west side so that makes just a little too difficult for me. Trust me, Gorilla MMA!

Fighter physique is another good one. Its a bit further down from Hayashis. If you want more boxing oriented I would recommend twin cobras or lions den in downtown. I am a boxer myself. Good luck

Thank you for the suggestions!

Unfortunately, I have to wait a few weeks now. Doc says I have a strained oblique and rib contusion.

TexasCCW, where did you do your class at? Wife and I want to do ours next weekend. Fee is $70/person. Does that sound reasonable?

Looks like I will have to wait a few weeks. Doctor diagnosed me with some bruised ribs and a strained oblique so no physical training for me for the next 3 weeks.

If you're talking about the CHL, I got it through El Paso Gun Exchange a few years ago. I don't even have to requalify anymore I just pay the fee and get the new license in the mail. $70 is a great price! I paid a bit more since I'm a civilian.

I think we might end up doing it at the Rod and Gun Club, $45/person.

Does it really take 7-8 hours to do?

When I did my Louisiana one, the instructor said I didn't have to do the shooting part, that I've "probably fired a gun a few times." LOL.

It can really be done within a few hours but the law requires 8 hours of lecture. I don't even have to requalify anymore I just pay the fee and get the license in the mail in a few days.
