I was just wondering if anyone remembers a long haired guy named "Simon" that used to attend all of the concerts in the EPT and Las Cruces areas in the seventies and eighties. He always motivated the crowd and was like a local legend of the time. It seemed everyone knew his name.

In hindsight, I have no idea who he really was or what he is up to these days. Does anyone else out there remember "Simon"?

Vaguely.. I was not a huge concert guy.. But I do remember him at the RUSH concert many years ago. You could always go by the Headstand or some place like that, I am sure they would know.

Default Simon

I remember that dude. I was (and still am) a big concert goer. I started seeing him in the late 70s and all the way up until I left EP in 1990. You would always see those silver braclets near the stage....and the denim jacket flying through the air......good times...

I've been to more than a dozen concerts since I moved here in 1989. Simon has been at every one of them. Some of them were.

Aerosmith / Skid Row (Las Cruces 1989)
Whitesnake 1990
Van Halen 1992
Stone Temple Pilots 1995 or thereabouts
Suicidal Tendencies / Dangerous Toys 1992
Queensryche 1992
Faith No More / Metallica / Guns N Roses 1992
Korn 1994
Def Leppard (Las Cruces 1992)
Motley Crue 1999
Poison / Warrant / Quiet Riot 2001
Anthrax / Rob Zombie 2005
Alice Cooper / Early Pearl 2006

There were others...but for some reason, I don't remember much about them LOL. Simon wasn't at the Garth Brooks show in 1997 (wonder why)...and he was conscpicuously absent from the Alice Cooper concert in 2006 as well. Alice was the last concert I saw....had Tickets for Cinderella, but they cancelled.

But yes....I remember Simon well. I've heard him called everything from "Jesus" to "that stoner dude". He does get the crowd riled up though.

Ahhhh....fond memories.

Yea Simon was a fixture at the El Paso Concert scene. He would always make it to the front, take off his leather jacket and go to his own shirtless world. He would always spit on the musicians and get away with it. None of the bouncers or the talent seemed to give a **** that some dude was spitting on them. and I mean he was accurate out to 15-20 ft. Anyway I saw him as the DJ at a local ***** bar some time later. wonder if he survived?

Yeah used to see him at the Barn all the time. Carrying on and generally getting crazy. My old neighbor and I used to hit the Cabaret once in a while and that's where I saw him last (DJing there).

Those are some crazy memories - and I doubt I'd be brave enough to push my way up to the front of main floor like my friends and I did, back in the day.

Just finally got to see simon again at the KISS and BuckCherry concert tonight, 2-DEC-2009! Lost the denim, but has dark hoody and flashy shades. Finally getting some grays in. Keep it going dude! Gosh, saw the guy at my first concert at the barn back in 1979 when I was 15 years old at the Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush, Angel, Axe show! Went there with two gilrs, what a night!
