Friends, I am trying to relocate to EL Paso and as part of it just wanted to check if there any Asian Indian Families available in the City. As a native from india it would be the easiest way to adjust in a new city when I find a group like that. It always proves to be a wealth of information, as well as immediate connections. Especially because of spouse and kids.
Also, I have read in other forums that the schools in El Paso are not supposed to be the most prestine in the Nation. Is that a generalization or truth? Are there any good schools in El Paso, including private ones? Keeping Elimentary schooling , safety and India people as a consideration which place in El Paso is suitable for Living. How is the Income tax and apartment rent in El Paso.I am very appreciative of any information regarding my questions.

I think if you move here, you will need to be more intentional about finding other Asian Indians to connect with, but I think that may be true with any ethnicity or national origin. This may be due to the fact that the city is a large majority Hispanic/Mexican descent. We are friends with Indian families so we know there is a presence here and Indian restaurants do exist....I believe there is also at least one store that does cater to the Indian population. UTEP also brings Indians to El Paso, many of them graduate students in Engineering.

As far as schools go, it is like any other community in that there is a mixed bag of educational quality. I can only speak to the West Side (from UTEP going west), but I believe that the education expectation is high in this area because many college educated professionals live on that side, especially transplants, so the public schools are also higher achieving. There are also other very good high schools around the city but I cannot speak to the schools that feed them. Many charter schools are opening up all over the city and that may also influence what school you select for your children outside of existing public and private schools.

Property taxes are high in El Paso but we do not have state or local income tax. Apartment rent is lower than pretty much most of the country and many newer complexes are opening up throughout town....just depends on where you elect to live.

You should Google 'el paso tx ________' For the blank put in Indian religion names/churches, asian indian community center etc. Then contact those and talk personally to them with all your questions. The above are only examples I'm sure you have more specific Google search criteria.
