Heh heh.. Thats why I wont live in Corpus.. Port Aransas and Corpus are not the same city.. But where was Glaveston on that list?

I think El Paso is an okay place to raise children. What is good is that kids here don't have as much money for some of the fads and drugs that kids do in other places, there isn't the same level of social pressure, kids here really don't have to try to be cool in the way that they do in other cities. The weather is almost as good as weather can get, kids can play outdoors every day of the year and they don't have to bundle up or sweat.

Where it's bad is for many kids there isn't that much to do. A lot of kids never go camping or on hiking trips with their parents, they don't get to grow up with lakes, boating, good wholesome outdoor activities, family activities. Schools here are not the best, the drop out rates are very high, and of course the teen pregnancy rate is absurdly high. Too many kids are getting killed in car accidents, many parents here don't seem to set curfews or care who is driving their children around at 3 am.

I think it's a mix. Some good, some bad.

well said malamute. I'd add that the safety of the place as far as my not worrying about them being outside was huge. I obviously don't have that same luxury here in the DC area.
