Already last week, talk has begun on reducing military spending by 25% (Barney Frank). Senator Obama has not put in his 2 billion cents in yet, but he also already said he wants to reduce spending, cut programs. Not good for the El Paso area.

Fort Bliss wont be closing.. but other bases/post will be. Like I said no need to worry. Fort Bliss will be one of 4 major hubs that will remain. Easier to consuldate troops to one major hub than it is to keep many of the bases open. Less commanders needed less property to maintain, and so on. So dont worry many of the troops will be home from IRAQ and filling this post. Moderator cut: discussion of the Presidential election

Please discuss this without including the Presidential election. If you want to discuss the election with EP folks, you can do that in the chattin' thread. If you want to discuss the impact of the Presidential election on defense spending or any other outcomes of the Presidential election, the only place on City-Data to do that is here.

If it happens again, the thread will be closed.
