While I think Daniels would be great for the job, I don't know if he has the personality to get many votes in the primaries.
Should he be a candidate, being paired with Rubio would be pretty interesting.
He's a little guy with a bad comb over and lacks a huge personality, it seems he gets it though. He raised the sales tax in Indiana and lowered property taxes. I'm not sure if he's popular enough with republicans, but I hope he gives it a shot. I think his record in Indiana compares favorably against Palin in Alaska and Romney in Massachusetts.

this could be a problem, the same as it was with Duncan Hunter in 2007/2008. He was everything the Repbulicans seem to be wanting but he bombed out from day one.
He's fairly popular in Indiana. One thing that works well for him is that he can attract the swing votes. I actually know a fair number of democrats who voted for him in the last election because they didn't like the democratic candidate. Really, I worry that he is too moderate for base, which means the primary will be difficult. If he could get the nomination, though, he could easily win the election. As for VP, he would have to take someone more conservative, and strategically, he should take someone not from the midwest.
I think Mitch Daniels should get Mitt Romney as a running mate. The two governors would be an economic dream team.
I think they make sense together, but I also think Mitt is too "big" to go agree to go as a VP for someone a lot well less know like Daniels. Maybe the other way 'round?
On the other hand, I still think this combo is to moderate for the base, however electable (and decent at governing) they would end up being in the general. I mean, really the only reason Mitt is a Republican today is because he had to switch parties to run against Ted Kennedy.
I like Mitch Daniels. He supports a truce on social issues and supports a VAT. That alone will make sure he doesn't win a Republican primary, but at least he is putting out ideas.
