One of the Primaries on July 19th will not happen making it a recall Election between Democratic State Senator Dave Hanson and Republican recall organizer David Vanderleest. Republican Assemblyman John Nygren (who was expected to be the GOP nominee and a much stronger candidate than VanderLeest) was thrown off the ballot for not submitting enough valid signatures.
More than one Republican got ballot access to run against the other two Dem Senators facing recall challenges (Holerpin and Wirch) so both of those races will have Primaries on July 19th and the recall election on August 16th.
The Democrats only have one candidate running against each of the six Republican Senators facing recall, however Republicans decided to run "fake Democrats" in each of those races, so a Primary will occur for all six of those races on July 12th with the recall elections for the six Republicans on August 9th
Wisconsin voters went to the polls on Tuesday for the first of a series of special elections prompted by the bitter partisan battle earlier this year over the collective bargaining rights of government workers.
But turnout, which was expected to be low, was off to a slow start in Shorewood, a suburb of Milwaukee and home to the Democratic Primary for the 8th Senate District.
"I don't know if it will pick up this afternoon or not," said Sherry Grant, Shorewood's Village Clerk. "We are looking at using less poll workers for the afternoon unless it picks up."
In total, six Republican senators who supported the anti-union measure, and three Democrats who opposed it, will be defending their seats this summer as a result of recall efforts.

Recalll elections normally bomb out, especially when they are pointless. Just think of how much this costs the tax payers. I hate special elections.

Which is true. The elections today are because the right wing goons are running bogus candidates trying to sabotage the democrats recall efforts and to stall time.
