The right-wing media was peddling false hope. This is from the Examiner today:

Quote:
A few hours earlier, across the street at the Convention Center, the campaign’s supporters and volunteers fully expected Romney to be the nation’s next president.* Indeed, what was striking after Fox News called the race for Obama, at about 11:15 p.m., was how stunned so many of Romney’s supporters were.* Many said they were influenced by the prominent conservatives who predicted a big Romney win, and they fully expected Tuesday night to be a victory celebration.

“I am shocked, I am blown away,” said Joe Sweeney, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.* “I thought I had a pretty good pulse on this stuff.* I thought there was a trend that was going on underground.”
In Boston, stunned Romney supporters struggle to explain defeat | WashingtonExaminer.com

Apparently there wasn't a trend. The conservative media was as bad as the Japanese media during WWII, shielding the population it serves from the inevitability of a crushing defeat. This may rattle conservative faith and confidence in Fox News, Limbaugh and Breitbart right down to the core.

Good. I have nothing but contempt for Romneytards and Bushbots.

Always remember: those Romneytards gathering in Boston last night were the same exact people who villified John Kerry as an "elitist flip-flopper from Massachusetts who SPEAKS FRENCH! *GASP*!!", and spent millions into attack ads in 2004 questioing John Kerry's integrity and service to his country, just so they could get their Village Idiot from Texas another 4 years to finish destroying the country.

And what do they do? 8 years later they have the nerve to nominate a REAL flip-flopper and elitist from Massachusetts who speaks fluent French (he picked up after fleeing to France to espace the Vietnam draft, despite protesting in favor of the war during college).

Romneytards can suck it.

That's an interesting analogy that I'll agree with. It is amazing how divorced from reality many on the Right are. Fox Propaganda shields them and teaches them to distrust actual facts when presented by other sources.

I was stunned not so much that he lost but he converted no battleground states (forget NC).
I'm also stunned at how tight the margins are in FL, VA and OH which suggests to me that a.) Obama GOTV was vastly superior to Romneys but neither won the battle of ideas convincingly and B.) that there are so many people who seemed to check out of the race who probably would have voted against Obama.

More importantly, Fox News is self-reinforcing for conservatives. They watch it because their beliefs are validated, which in turn validates Fox News. It's one big circle jerk of self-reinforcing delusion.

Only when true FACTS hit them in the face (like an Obama victory) do they have this immense and profound case of cognitive dissonance.

I voted for Kerry I was still in my 20s then. I always hated that charge against. I don't know what folks have against rich people. The man fought for his country and running against someone who was circling around Alabama doing God knows what.

He and Mitt deserved better than to be attacked for their wealth.

I don't even watch Fox News and only watch Morning Joe on MSNBC in measured doses.

People didn't "check out" who would have voted against Obama. You were one of the main ones boasting about yard signs, conservative enthusiasm and the Democrats lack thereof. The simple fact is that the electorate has changed. And you were DEAD WRONG about that.

The polls were almost exactly in line with actual turnout.

But all we heard was "The polls are based on a 2008 turnout model Obama's not going to get again!"
