I would find it hard to believe Cain does that much drinking now because of his liver cancer.

I've said this on day 1 of my argument about Cain... he is merely a useful idiot. Wake me up when he gets on republican ticket. Oh, I said that about Ron Paul too (for different reasons)... but many people have an indigestion hearing that.

Atwater's New Southern Strategy is well and alive in republicandom. Oh, and why do you think Michael Steele was chosen to be RNC chairman soon after Obama took office? Mere coincidence?

If this really happens, wonder why its not getting more coverage.
I still don't see a named source.

I wish they would just focus on his poor economic and foreign policy knowledge. With all this tension in the Middle East, we need someone who can handle the stress of working with other nations. I'm afraid Cain would just blow them up!

I believe the reporter who wrote the story saw this firsthand.

If Obama's known drug use in the past and Clinton's not inhaling and sexual antics didn't derail them....why is this an issue?

People don't care much what drugs candiates admit to doing in college (Clinton, Obama) or refuse to admit they did (Bush). Drinking before noon while running for President... well, if you can't see the difference between a candidate who likes a cold brew at 9am now at the age of 65 and a candidate who liked a joint decades ago while in college, well... then I won't bother trying to explain it any more to you.

It doesn't concern me because Cain has no campaign infrastructure and has about as much chance at being the nominee as I do.

Well, OK, he has a better chance that I do.

Slightly.

Very slightly.

Because they do not attempt to deny it, in fact it was they that brought it up themselves. Anyone running for public office is far better off airing their dirty laundry themselves than having to reply to others that do it for them, it makes people think you are trying to hide it and that means a lack of trust and thus a lack of support.

Or Palin appearing when Hillary was running? Or the touting of Rubio's ability to draw "Hispanic" voters when he's of Cuban descent, and they look down on Chicanos? The Cubans vote GOP, the Chicanos primarily for Dems. Shades of Lee Atwater indeed; one can only hope that his "deathbed regrets" were honest and not a typical Lee "dirty trick" to fool God.

Can't rep you again but this bears repeating. When Obama was asked (eons ago) about trying pot, he said, "I inhaled; that was the point." Honesty should always be paramount; it's apparent that Cain has lied because he's told so many different stories and slung blame rather than tackling the harassment issue head on. Gurbie's right; the GOP outed Cain to spare themselves embarrassment.

Except that alcohol is legal, drugs are not.
