No, not when I look at the so-called alternatives, we shall see a year from now what the American People think.

You probably weren't worried about the 2010 elections either. That's fine, I just hope you are ready for it when it happens.

Wait! You think these are good numbers for obama?

My god, the GOP/RNC/conservative groups haven't even started on him yet and the BEST he can do right now is statistical TIES with GOP candidates?

How about that Perry, huh? Even with all the "bad" liberal media attacks, he's virtually TIED with obama and that's before the country even knows very much about him.

I don't think they're particularly good or bad for President Obama's reelection chances.

But then, I've seen enough polls in my life showing McCain leading Obama and Kerry leading Bush (all of them a lot closer to those respective elections than we are now to the 2012 election) to understand that they're interesting, and they give us some idea of where the election would go if it were held now. Other than that, well...

In 1983, we had an incumbent President in a recession who was getting beat in the polls by Walter Mondale and John Glenn. Ask Presidents Mondale and Glenn if they enjoyed their times in the White House...

In 1995, we had a President who was beaten down after putting all his political capital into a losing health care reform bid, and who had just seen the opposition party make historic gains in the midterms. Ask President Dole about his administration...

At this point neither an Obama second term nor a GOP victory next year would surprise me. But then, I don't see just what I want to see.

The 2010 elections were an off election year, meaning fewer offices up for grabs and no Whitehouse either. The fact of the matter is voter turnout is very low in those elections and taking the results of them and claiming it to be some sort of mandate is delusional and shows an utter lack of understanding of American Politics. I actually stated I thought that the Repubs would make gains in 2010, I said they would win the House and not the Senate, I was correct. I have picked the winner in the every election so far except when Nixon won, so I guess my guess is as good as the next persons. We shall see how it tuns out in 2012, right now I say Obama will win it again, but I have to wait until after the GOP picks their guy and I see what the situation is six months from now before making a final pick, many things can change in six months.

Excellent points. Romney is the only viable candidate (even though I agree with Ron Paul on some issues), and he faces stiff opposition in his own party from the evangelicals and the ultra-conservatives who see him as a RINO. With the Congressional approval rating as low as it is, I don't think that either party can "rest on their laurels." Many are disappointed that they elected candidates with such extreme beliefs. Scott Walker is finding out that he certainly didn't have a mandate in Wisconsin, for example. Hope your winning streak holds, amigo!

Walker is getting everything he wants, and it's working.

Meanwhile, Illinois is getting the tax increases and unemployment it asked for when it voted for Quinn over Brady. Way to go!

tropolis"his only hope is that these people end up showing up and doing the lesser of 2 evil things. that never works though."

Really, that's odd, I recall a fellow by the name of Jimmy Carter who really was nothing more than the lesser of two evils, in the eyes of the public. No one was enchanted by him. Same with 1988 election, 2 people who couldn't get their first cousins to campaign for them. the Reagan's, Clinton's, and Obama's are rare. Like them or not, all have one feature in common. All had people of various ideologies excited about them. Not something either carter, , 41, or 43 had going for them.
