exactly. i've always maintained that a parents citizenship has zero affect on a US born person's "natural born citizen" status ( with the one exception being children of foreign diplomats ).

it's the birthers that believe otherwise.

yep. the security paper it's printed on will show the word "void" (as it does) when photocopied.

if obama's COLB would have had the word "void" on it the birthers would have lost their mind. to this day there are birthers that claim the COLB is void because the original copy that the obama campaign posted online had the registration number redacted. for some reason they can't wrap their heads around the concept that redacting a copy doesn't affect the original ( ..... on par with when playing "peek-a-boo" the other person doesn't actually disappear ).

George Romney's parents were Americans who lived in a colony of Mormons in Mexico. George was born in Mexico but was American through his parents. During the Mexican Revolution the Romneys fled back to the U.S. Mitt Romney was born here. The whole family were Americans in every way including their culture and language. They had no Hispanic roots whatsoever in their ancestry. Even George Romney's grandparents were Americans and hailed from Utah. The family chose U.S. citizenship for their children, including George. Again, Mitt Romney was born here and is an American citizen.

Doesn't really matter, does it now?

Romney cracking the "You know I was born here" was so INCREDIBLY distasteful because BOTH Romney and Obama's father's were not born in the US, but both of their sons were. Same situation, but Romney gets away with the joke because.... well, you can fill in the blanks there.

Not really. Several generations of Romney's were born in this country, not so with the Obama's.
