He might have the gift for the perfect response in a debate, and I know a lot of you are just dying to watch him go after Obama in a debate, but the man is unelectable in a national election. Newt will never be President of the United States.
Yes, this tells me everything I need to know about the folks in South Carolina...sheesh! What were they thinking? How long will it take for them to be embarrassed by this and make some sort of excuses?
C'mon folks, Newt is the ultimate Washington insider, plying his trade and selling his influence. I'll bet Axlerod and Co. are rubbing their hands with glee at the prospect of going up against Newt.
Newt has converted me. I'm on the Newt bandwagon. His erratic rant about foodstamps and how the Saudis choose to deal with the Chinese instead of us just touched a nerve. The way the sweat pours off his 4 chins is just inspiring. Newt is a man of the people. He has average man faults, he's overweight, cheated on his wife, lies with great precision, but speaks with such passion. He even released his tax returns. Take that Willard!!! He did honorable work for Fannie and Freddie. How'd I ever overlook this pillar of society. I encourage all republicans to get behind our next President..Newton Leroy Gingrich..Shoot, he even has the middle name of a black man..

Don't blame the good people of South Carolina. They did the GOP a service.
The SC voters were right to reject Romney. They know a phony when they see one. Romney ran a lousy campaign in their state, including two lousy debates. He's covered in flop sweat. The last five days, he's looked and sounded like a loser. So he lost.
We are three contests in, and Mr Inevitable isn't getting better at campaigning, he's getting worse. If Willard doesn't have what it takes to win the nomination, he doesn't have what it takes to beat Obama, or to serve as president.
And if that's the case, better for everyone we find out now.
South Carolina has a history of picking the republican nominee and Gingrich won. I think Santorum, Romney and Paul can now all get behind him. Even Nikki Haley who had endorse Romney told him and his supporters that her state will pick the republican nominee, and she would support the winner of her state which is Gingrich.
You know, President Obama doesn't have to debate. As the incumbent, he has no message to get out plus he'd be playing defense all night. I'm not saying it would be a good thing but if I was him I'd refuse to debate because there is nothing in it for him.
I have to admit that I admire Newt for proposing all of those debates with pres Obama. In Texas, we had to endure Perry REFUSING to do even ONE debate with Bill White, the Dem candidate for governor. I guess that we all know why that was.
