George Will, dean of conservative columnists, says flat out in a new column that "Neither Romney or Santorum is likely to win election", and suggests Republican voters concentrate on holding the House and winning the Senate, and play defense for four years:

Republicans can stop Obama, one way or another - The Washington Post

The problem with Will's theory: whichever stinker is at the head of the GOP ticket, he'll be a boat anchor wrapped around the feet of Republicans all up and down the ballot

Exactly. He thinks that the GOP should settle to try to win the Senate. What good would that do if there is a socialist dictator in the White House. And If he get two more socialists on the Court the ballgame is over. Greece here we come.

Are you maybe thinking of somebody else ?

George Will is an old-old-old school Burkean conservative in the tradition of William F Buckley. I'm not sure he is a Republican (though that is a fair bet), but he's definitely not a "RINO", and he is MOST definitely NOT a socialist. Elitist, Monarchist, Corporatist, Reactionary, fossil-brain, troglodyte, Luddite... Sure But a socialist???

Explain yourself!

Did you read the piece? Will is urging the GOP to make Obama a lame duck from 01-21-13 on, throwing themselves into the task of blocking his every policy and initiative until 2016, when Chrisite/Rubio will ride to the rescue.

Actually, from the GOP perspective, that's not a bad plan. In fact, it's the same one I suggested in a post last year.

old, old, old school is right. Dems pay attention to him but the Republicans consider him yesterday's news and a leftist. Rush is the voice of the party now.

There was this little thing called the Tea Party and that movement shifted the entire GOP voting base to the right. What used to be Conservative is now Moderate. What used to be Moderate is not Communist.

IMHO, the GOP be crazy. Extremism is the current GOP fad. That's why I don't party with them no more -- though I gotta admit I washed my hand of the GOP long before that.

And that voice just handed the Presidency to Obama for four more years. He alienated women voters - the Reps don't seem to understand that they're a very important bloc in the overall scheme of things........

What makes this even better is that newly far right GOP is going to have to come to terms with demographic irrelevancy. Every election cycle that passes the electorate becomes, more urban, more non-white, and more Democratic. Unless and until the GOP changes they are likely out of the running.

First Obamacare must not be implemented. If it gets by the courts only a new president can stop it. The congress can not stop a dictator president unless there are enough in the GOP to impeach. That is not going to happen. And the liberals are happy with a socialist dictator. Did they protest when he made recess appointments when the senate was not in recess? He has said he will circumvent congress to do whatever he wants. Only the courts will be able to stop him and that takes a long time. He may be able to change the complexion of the court by then. No we need the White House. Will is a jerk.
