Much of the base of the GOP has problems with Mormons. I think the surveys are revealing that. Some other segments will have problems supporting him, as well. It's one of those things people won't talk about in "polite company," but they are talking about it. And if people didn't vote for him in the primary because of that I doubt many of them will vote for him in the general election.

I believe you are wrong, I also believe there isn't a shred of evidence to support what you claim. Anecdotally it is the left that is preoccupied with his faith.

Nice try. But I suspect you don't live in the USA, nor do you follow politics and current events (even if you are in the USA). Otherwse you would know better.

Lol, is that intended to refute my contention? Look who is starting the Mormon threads in this forum.

Evidence of what? You need to keep up. The freepers don't like Romney because he isn't conservative enough, as you quote points out. Of course here is no mention of his religion.

And yes the left does have a religious litmus test, they loathe people of faith.

Edit:I see you wisely pulled your post.

I don't know why you guys think that people on the left are preoccupied with his religion. They aren't going to vote for him.

No, they loathe people who attempt to legislate their faith, which is firmly within the GOP's purview. It's the GOP who loathes people of faith--if they aren't of the RIGHT faith.

Yes, I pulled it because, as you point out, I realized after I posted that it didn't address the topic of the thread, which is religion. The fact that many conservatives won't support Romney because he's a RINO is a topic for another thread.

Again, more assertions without proof. Very common for the left, slime people with no evidence. We can look at the political beliefs of the OP, to see who is preoccupied by Romney's faith.

Exactly. It's from within the GOP Romney will face skepticism about his religious beliefs. These are the same people who raised questions about Obama not being the right kind of Christian. And when they continue to look closer at Romney, his behavior over the years as regards his beliefs and the activities of the Mormon church of which he was a leader ... the questions, I suspect, and the surveys indicate, will increase.
