Man, you missed my point. I wasn't suggesting Jackass as model behavior, obviously. I'm not an idiot. The main point I've been trying to make from the beginning is that EVERYONE does STUPID stuff in high school. Teenagers are idiots. Almost all of them. Including me, when I was a teenager. The fact that I'm still alive is mind numbing. What teenage Romney and Obama did in high school is totally irrelevant to this election, and this is just a partisan distraction. And it's really convenient that the guy who got his feelings hurt by Romney in the 60's waited until the 2012 election to make this public. If messing with your classmates was really an assault, half of us would still be in jail. Just trying to offer a slightly more balanced perspective on a sensationalized media article. The end.
I have five teenage boys, so I know a little about boys and high school. Every kid does stupid stuff, but they don't all do mean stuff. Taking the clippers to the back of a friend's hair is stupid. Holding a kid down who is NOT your friend and cutting his hair is mean. Playing tricks on a blind teacher isn't being stupid--it's being really mean. Yelling "atta girl" when an effeminate male classmate answers a question in class isn't stupid--it's mean. By the time you're a senior in high school, your values and character are pretty well in place. I wouldn't put too much emphasis on this if it was an isolated incident, but it's not. It's one more piece in a puzzle that concerns me, like the time he told the woman at a fundraiser that she must have brought the cookies from 711--who SAYS something like that? At first I thought he was just dorky and tone deaf, but now I'm not so sure that there's not more to it, and I don't like what I'm hearing.
So I'm anti-bullying and no fan of Romney, and the event as described sounds pretty nasty. However, I think it is a mistake to look at things that occurred several decades ago through today's lens. Not that bullying or hazing or any of that is ever right, no matter what the time in history, but I also don't think it is fair to apply today's standards retroactively. JMHO.
Events like this are windows into what is in someone's head. Seems that he doesn't respect the people around him.

These could be seen as wayward incidents from a youth spent seeking a path in life. Except psychologists tell us our basic nature is set by age five ( Any of us who have raised kids can attest to the truth of that).
These stories will resonate, because they illustrate a central truth about Romney's nature that only get exposed accidentally in bits and pieces when he lets his guard down- that he's got a bossy, sadistic, passive-aggressive streak a mile wide, and he takes it out on people who can't defend themselves, who he thinks are "below his station" in life.
No wonder Romney doesn't "relate" to normal people. He isn't one.
This guy turned out to be extremely successful in life, family and business unlike someone else we all know who was not even raised in America and spent many years out of America learning how to hate it.
