It was loaned to the George Bush administration. When the Bush administration left office, the loan was over. It was then returned to the British government.
Banging your head against fake outrage brick walls will give you a headache. Just point and laugh, it's more fun.
Winston Churchill was granted honorary citizenship of the United States by Congress on April 9, 1963. Also, his mother, Jennie Jerome of Brooklyn, New York, was an American.
But you do know that he could never have been President and LIncoln was President in case you forgot.
That was so lame. The WH is the American people's house. If you don't like Churchill put it under a table with a cloth over it or something. Don't make a big stink out of it and return it to our allies and friends.
First, back in 2010 the National Journal reported [Note - the National Journal link is archived and olnly available to subscribers -- Ed.] that “the Churchill bust was relocated to a prominent spot in the residence to make room for Abraham Lincoln, a figure from whom the first African-American occupant of the Oval Office might well draw inspiration in difficult times.” And just in case anyone forgot, just last year the AP reported that President Obama “replaced the Oval Office fixture with a bust of one of his American heroes, President Abraham Lincoln, and moved the Churchill bust to the White House residence.”

I am not arguing that.

I merely pointed out that Churchill was a US citizen and that his mother was American. Therefore, it is not really 'anti-American' to have his bust in the White House.
I still think it was very telling that this is one of Obama's first acts as President. Note that the other person that hated Churchill more than Obama was none other than Frank Marshall Davis. I also find it despicable that this was not widely reported on or taken to task when he did this. The more I learn about Obama, the less I like. There is a lot more to this man that we see or know.
Question
Has anyone ever asked Obama about him doing this?
Yes, moving the bust of Churchill into the residence portion of the White House was such horrible thing! And why? So he could replace it with a bust of ... Abraham Lincoln! The horror!

He was made an honorary citizen of the United States in 1963, at the age of 88. Purely symbolic -- he was not an actual citizen of the United States. Churchill Honored with US Citizenship
Note that I certainly don't agree that it is anti-American to display his bust in the White House (where it is still displayed today). I am merely pointing out that his 'citizenship' was simply an honorific and nothing more.

It was never returned -- it is on display in the residence portion of the White House. The only 'big stink' is the one made by misinformed people such as yourself (and people like Charles Krauthammer, who embarrassed himself yet again this morning by claiming in a column that the bust was returned to the British) who keep parroting this false bit of drivel.
Here's a picture of the President showing the bust, still displayed in the White House, to British Prime Minister David Cameron:
And now, back to your regurlarly scheduled babbling about things that never happened...
